Yoga nidra

Yoga Nidra is referred to as "yogic sleep", "dynamic sleep" or "psychic sleep" where you learn to relax consciously. In yoga nidra, the body, mind and intellect are completely relaxed and one appears to be sleeping. In the state of yoga nidra, however, the consciousness functions at a deeper level and the subconscious and unconscious realms of the mind are more open. Yoga nidra is a very deep form of relaxation and has been found to reduce tension, anxiety and headaches and is used to help soldiers with PTSD.

The process of yoga nidra is truly accesible for anyone who can lie comfortably on the floor. To practice yoga nidra, you will lie on the floor and are welcome to use supportive props to make the body as relaxed and comfortable as possible. A cushion under the head, a bolster under the knees to release the lower back, or a blanket over the body can greatly enhance the yoga nidra experience by facilitating effortlessly relaxation.

iRest Yoga Nidra

Integrative Restoration (iRest) Yoga Nidra is a research-based transformative practice of deep relaxation meditation that aids its practitioners in recognizing their underlying peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life. iRest is secular and uses a culturally, trauma sensitive language. It is an exploration of the Self through the uses of body sensing starting with the left side of the brain verses the right like in Yoga Nidra. One begins to awaken and recognize his or her natural state of Being.

During iRest you will set intentions and heartfelt desires, develop an Inner Resource (happy place), and deepen your awareness that every thought, image, and beliefs are messengers. One 35-minute session of iRest is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep. Whether you are fully awake or fall asleep, you get the same benefits. iRest effectively reduces PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain while increasing health, resiliency, and well-being.

A dynamic combination of Vinyasa and Yin Yoga's to balance the Yin & Yang in your practice. The first half of class is dedicated to a vinyasa styled practice; linking breath with movement to create internal heat. While the second half of class winds down into a yin/restorative styled yoga; where gentle stretches are held for an elongated period of time allowing the pose to sink into deep fascia tissues and release negative emotion and stress. Yin-Yasa provides practitioners with a balanced sweat and stretch session, leaving the body rejuvenated and equalized.
